1) Pécs Health Industry Innovation Centre
The Pécs Health Industry Innovation Centre, the flagship project of the Pécs Pole strategy, aims at establishing a multifunctional health industry innovation base.
The building of around 5,700 sqm surface area is to host one of the state-of-the-art research and innovation centres of Hungary. The main objective of the centre is to bridge enterprises, market-oriented product development processes and the research potential of the region, meeting manufacturing and distribution demands. Additionally, the centre is involved in marketing and fundraising activities, like raising finance from investors and grant applications for projects.
2) Science Building
The University of Pécs intends to contribute to all aspects of science education, research and innovation by establishing the Science Building project. The Science Building, a flagship project of the University of Pécs, is a new research institute, meeting international standards for science management. The institute is to work closely with enterprises and follow and respond to current research trends and demands of a knowledge-based economy.
3) Research Institute for Viticulture and Oenology
The Institute was founded by the Ministry of Agriculture in 1949 based on the tradition and expertise accumulated over the centuries in the vineyards and wine cellars owned by the Catholic Church. Soon afterwards, it became an experimental centre for the reconstruction of the grapes plantations. The Institute, restructured several times over the years, has joined the faculties of the University of Pécs. The founders set three top priorities for the Institute: research, providing specialist advice and education.
A 30-ha plantation continuously replanted since 1983, a cellar of 5,000 hl capacity and a multifunctional laboratory have contributed to achieving outstanding results. The Institute is a member of different national and European consortiums, co-operates with other Hungarian universities and institutes as well as participates in international research programmes.
